Dr. Patrick Feely

Classical Guitar

Patrick Feely has adjudicated local, national, and international guitar competitions
including the Montreal International, Hnatyshyn Foundation (Developing Artist Grant), Vancouver North Shore and Buffalo Guitar Festivals. He is a guitar specialist at the Royal Conservatory of Music, where he assesses guitar candidates across Canada and the US, and mentors new examiners. His students have been accepted into undergraduate and graduate performance programs in North America and Europe and have won provincial, national, and international prizes at guitar competitions.

Patrick holds a Master of Music in Guitar Performance degree from the University of Toronto, studying under Jeffrey McFadden, and a Doctor of Music Education from the University of Western Ontario. His research interests center on motivation, the effects of peer modeling, self-regulated learning, and teaching large online guitar courses.

Patrick is currently Assistant Professor of Music Education in the Don Wright Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario and is the founder of the not-for-profit Guitar Society of Brantford, where he serves as Artistic Director and Director of the Community Orchestra. He has performed in chamber settings with the McMaster University Orchestra, Grand River Players, and the Brantford Symphony Orchestra. Patrick has also performed across Canada with Brad Mahon as “The East West Guitar Duo,” and with his daughter Emilee (piano/flute) as “Duo Feely,” and has performed internationally, including lecture-recitals in Mumbai and Pune (India).
